New Zealand Greenstone/Jade, traditionally named "Pounamu", is found within in New Zealand. Pounamu is a sacred Symbol in Māori culture, and is often used to represent mana, status and authority.
This kind of sacred symbol is known as "Tapu Taonga" (Sacred Treasure). Pounamu is often gifted as a symbol of peace, and togetherness. Pounamu can be used for carving talismans which carry a spiritual significance.
