Aquamarine, from the Latin: aqua marina, "water of the sea", is a blue or turquoise variety of beryl. It occurs at most localities which yield ordinary Beryl. The gem-gravel placer deposits of Sri Lanka contain Aquamarine. Clear yellow Beryl, such as that occurring in Brazil, is sometimes called Aquamarine Chrysolite. The deep blue version of aquamarine is called Maxixe. Maxixe is commonly found in the country of Madagascar. Its colour fades to white when exposed to sunlight or is subjected to heat treatment, though the colour returns with irradiation.
Aquamarine is a blue-green stone that comes from Colombia and Brazil. It has been called "Water of the Sea", because of its color and it is known to be a treasure belonging to Mermaids. It brings inner peace, hope and self-love, gives shielding for the aura, and is said to bring angels for their guidance and protection.
